Unbeknown to most, today is Organic Feminine Hygiene Day. We had a little chat with Aimee Marks, the leading lady behind the certified organic brand TOM Organic.
For those who are unfamiliar about Organic Feminine Hygiene Day, could you explain what it is about?
As women concerned about our health and the health of the planet, we often read the ingredients on our skincare and food products, and yet we don’t stop to think about what we’re putting in one of the most sensitive, absorbent parts of our bodies! Organic Lady Garden Day is all about raising awareness of the benefits of choosing organic feminine hygiene products and empowering them to live a life uncompromised. 
What is the importance of wearing/inserting organic sanitary items? Why should women be concerned about this?
Most conventional tampons are made from a blend of conventional cotton and processed synthetics like rayon and polyethylene. Conventional cotton is one of the most heavily pesticide sprayed crops on the planet. Combine this with the fact that the average woman uses over 12,000 tampons and pads in a lifetime, in one of the most absorbent parts of their bodies and you’ve got 12,000 reasons why a certified organic, chemical free option is a must!

How can women educate themselves on such matters?

Pads and tampons are not something we tend to talk about but when the choices we make have such a big impact on our health we should be spreading the word and educating all the wonderful women in our lives on the benefits of organic so that they never have to compromise the wellbeing of their bodies or the planet.
