What’s HOT and What’s NOT For Hair – Summer 2016

With summer just around the corner we caught up with Melbourne based celebrity stylist and newly appointed ambassador for leading hair extensions brand Amazing Hair Australia to find out what’s hot and what’s not for the coming summer.

HOT

FRINGES

“Fringes will see a swift comeback as the warmer weather begins. Worn with a cute top-knot bun or high textured ponytail they are set to be a must have statement style of summer. Just ensure to keep your fringe length long with layers around the side to frame the face” explains Marie.

“If you love this trend but are hesitant to cut your hair try Amazing Hair Australia’s clip in fringe and have your hairdresser blend it to your natural hair for a seamless finish.”

BRAIDS

“Braids are a huge hair trend for summer” explains Marie.

“Braids can be worn in a wide range of ways.  Boxer braids will remain on trend for daywear, whilst a full length center or loose side braid are beautiful for a summer night out.  If your hair is shorter you can incorporate a braid at the front of your hair or down one side.”

TEXTURED PONYTAILS

“The textured ponytail has been a huge trend throughout 2016 and it will definitely continue throughout summer. Whether it’s worn high with volume at the crown, or low to the nape, the soft natural texture throughout the lengths of the ponytail is what makes this style so striking” explains Marie.

“To perfect this look your hair must have volume so as to ensure you create a statement style and not a limp lifeless ponytail.  When creating this look for my celebrity clients I use clip in hairpieces by Amazing Hair Australia to add both length and body to the hair. This gives me the ideal starting base to create a beautifully full ponytail that has gorgeous texture and movement.”

NOT

OVER-STYLED CURLS

“Waves and curls will be the go to hairstyle this coming summer” explains Marie. “The key to mastering this trend is not to over-style your hair. Super tight curls are not the goal this summer, you want to aim for soft, natural looking waves that accentuate the natural movement in the hair.”

Marie’s Pro Tip: If you lack the natural length and volume to wear your hair down try Amazing Hair Australia’s 100% Human Hair Remy Tape Extensions to create beautiful natural looking long locks.

SUPER SHORT HAIR

Warmer weather and longer hair seem to go hand in hand and summer 2016 will be no exception. Whilst shorter styles have been prominent throughout the cooler months, long lengths will see a huge resurgence for summer.

“This summer is all about natural flowing mid length to long hair” explains Marie. “At present we are seeing celebrities wearing their hair with super long length, achieved by hair extensions. Whilst some women will adopt this trend here in Australia, the major trend will be for mid length or longer collarbone styles worn down with natural waves.”
