In Australia Mothers Day falls in the lead up – or should I say cool down – to Winter. The weather is getting chilly and there’s nothing more welcome than something comfy and warm and if it just happens to be stylish as well that is the ultimate bonus.
In keeping with that thinking I ended up browsing online at EMU Australia, an iconic Australian brand who specialise in premium sheepskin and Merino wool products. A quick glance over the women’s footwear page has got me starting my very own wishlist of Mother’s Day maybes to hint at to my own little family.
But before I get to the fabulous choices that I’ve fallen in love with, let me tell you a little about the brand.
EMU Australia were born in Geelong, in the heart of the Australian wool growing district and minute’s from the world-renowned Bell’s Beach on the Great Ocean Road. EMU Australia is a brand that has found global renown and a celebrity following, and I can understand why. They are a brand that is Australian born, bred and owned and that’s a very big tick in their favour to begin with.
In my hand at the moment I have a Talia and I can tell you that it is super soft and comfy. They fit like a glove and the premium sheepskin lining is smooth and cushioned making these moccasins an absolute joy to wear. They have a moulded rubber outsole and a cute little toe piece to make them look as good as they feel and they are good for either indoor or outdoor wear, you could even get away with wearing them down the shops I think. Warm and toasty without making your feet hot and sweaty. RRP: $79.00
And then there’s the wishlist that I think are gorgeous and would put a smile on mums face, but first let me mention that one of the fabulous things about EMU Australia’s sheepskin footwear is that so many of their designs go beyond the sheepskin slipper or boot. A lot of their footwear is for outdoor and ‘in public’ wear. These aren’t sheepskin boots to rug up in front of the fire with a nanna blankie. These are fashion sheepskin boots that mix and match beautifully with jeans and leggings.
Some of my favourites from the range are – way too hard to choose actually. I keep looking down the page to decide what to tell you about and they are all so tempting. So maybe I will tell you about the ones that are a little bit different.
The Merrijig Hi is a hi top sneaker style shoe with a sheepskin lining that looks fashionable and funky yet still functional. They feature vintage leather panels along the lower part of the shoe, offering a stark contrast to the luxurious sheepskin. A vintage leather toe cap, antique finished metal eyelets, embossed EMU branding and a removable soft sheepskin insole and a hard wearing rubber outsole combine to make a stunning fashion statement. RRP: 155.00
For fashion boots with a sheepskin lining and embossed EMU branding, a wooden heel wedge, a soft sheepskin cuff and raw edge seams these boots are gorgeous. They would make the perfect addition to every woman’s winter wardrobe for warmth and style. The Caloundra is a boot perfect for dressing up or dressing down that can be worn high or slouched and is a chestnut colour. $259.00
Then there’s the traditional sheepskin boots that come in a great range of colours, heights and styles to ensure that there is something for every wardrobe. There are also more fashionable styles of the traditional sheepskin boot and everything is made using the finest Australian sheepskin.
But if any of my family are reading (wink wink) my absolute favourite is the Heighton Lo – a stunning ankle boot with a wedge heel and studded belt detail. It has a sheepskin lined upper that can be folded up or down and a moulded hard wearing sole, as well as sheepskin lining and embossed EMU branding. RRP: $179.00
