Belle’s Bookshelf is a lighthearted and fun place with my favourite Belle pictured on the About Me page, how could I not fall in love. Belle, also widely known as the Beauty in Beauty and the Beast, is present in all of the profile identifiers for this blog and she was a literature lover, she is also the star of one of my favourite Disney movies.
It may have been the animated Belle that piqued my curiosity but it was certainly Sydney based Belle who captured my attention with her enthusiasm and passionate style of writing.
Welcome to Beauty and Lace Belle and thanks for participating.
How did you get started as a book blogger?
I’d been toying with the idea of starting a blog for awhile. I loved Forever Young Adult and was drawn to the idea of blogging about books. I wanted to make reading a priority again and keep track of what I read, plus connect with other readers. But what motivated me to finally take action and start the blog was reading a book I hated. I just had to express my thoughts (read: vent) – and my blog was born!
What is your background?
I’ve always loved reading and writing. I majored in English Literature at uni, but once I started working full time as a magazine writer I found myself reading less and less. As I mentioned, this was one of the reasons I started my blog – I wanted to refocus on my love of books.
Tell us about your blog?
I review all the books I read (which unfortunately is not as many as I’d like); it’s mostly YA with a sprinkling of other genres. I also review magazines, post “bookish buys” (cool book-related merchandise) and review films and TV shows that are based on books. I just have fun with it, really – it’s my happy place.
Is blogging a hobby or a job for you?
It’s a hobby but I spend a lot of time on it. I wish I could do it as a job!
What is your favourite book of all time?
Can I give you a top three instead? Well, I will anyway:
-David Copperfield by Charles Dickens
-The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
-Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
What are you currently reading?
And All the Stars by Andrea K Host. I’m only 1 per cent in so I can’t say much about it yet!
Which author would you most like to meet and why?
Probably Markus Zusak, because he’s brilliant. I’d totally fangirl though and make a fool of myself.
What book would you like to see made into a movie?
I think Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins would make a really fun movie.
What future plans do you have for your blog?
This year has been very busy for me and I haven’t had as much time to blog as I would have liked, so I definitely plan to get back into it properly in the new year.
Name 3 of your favourite blogs?
Oh gosh, I have so many that I love and visit every day. But the ones that I discovered early on and still read to this day are Read in a Single Sitting, All the Books I Can Read and Wear the Old Coat.
What does being a book blogger mean to you?
Being a part of an awesome, supportive, intelligent and fun community that makes me smile every day.
I devour books, vampires and supernatural creatures are my genre of choice but over the past couple of years, I have broadened my horizons considerably. In a nutshell – I love to write! I love interacting with a diverse range of artists to bring you interviews. Perhaps we were perfect before – I LOVE WORDS!
