At the moment I am on a bit of a health and fitness mission, I decided it’s time and I’m doing really well, which is something you may or may not know. I have a daily exercise routine and my Wii is a big part of that, but my whole regime/routine/mission revolves around my body (and my self-image).
Now I have a perfect way to exercise my brain as well, right on my Wii. It’s colourful, vibrant and set out quite simply which means it would be great fun for the whole family.
I am actually planning to try out my Miss 8 with it because we are working on quick recall and I think the earlier levels of this would be absolutely perfect – and she wouldn’t think of it as homework because it’s on the Wii.
Mensa Academy is a fun-filled brain workout that you can play solo or with your friends, and all of the questions are endorsed by Mensa so you can find out your Mensa score.
There are 3 solo game modes: Play, Coach and Test. Play will allow you to work your way through the levels sequentially, progressing only when your score is high enough. Coach will have you facing challenges set by the Professor to earn the bronze, silver and finally Gold medals. When you think you have mastered all of that Test mode will have you pit your intelligence against a 30 question test to discover your Mensa score.
To match wits with your friends, and family, give multiplayer a go in Party mode where you can take on up to 3 opponents in either a Brain Race where you compete to be the first one to cross the finish line, or Brain Fighter where you answer questions to unlock attack or defence weapons so that you can try knock your opponents out of action.
Give it a go, your brain will thank you!
Consisting of 5 disciplines Mensa Academy covers Language, Numeracy, Visual, Logic and Memory. There are 20 levels in each discipline for a total of 100 levels, as well as 35 mini games to unlock in Coach mode. Each discipline contains 7 different types of games that you may face so the game is alwaysfresh, always something new, and each of the levels is re-playable so you can keep going back until you get a score you’re happy with and then it’s time for the test.
Is your memory a little less than stellar these days, do you find that there are things you know that you used to know that seem to be lost in your memory banks – it has been proven that exercising you brain, training your brain to continue with the quick recall helps as you age. An active mind is way more likely to be a healthy mind so grab a game, take on your mates; fun up homework with the kids or just take your brain for a solo run to help it stay in shape.
The best part is it doesn’t seem like study, it doesn’t seem like work. It’s a fun way to check your mental reflexes.

I devour books, vampires and supernatural creatures are my genre of choice but over the past couple of years, I have broadened my horizons considerably. In a nutshell – I love to write! I love interacting with a diverse range of artists to bring you interviews. Perhaps we were perfect before – I LOVE WORDS!
