Last week I came and told you a little about the big countdown to the latest Rihanna video – Where Have You Been, after all of that I wasn’t watching on the 26th April when the track premiered. Actually I think I was at work but that’s neither here nor there.
The video is now available on Vevo and YouTube so that anyone who missed the big premiere last week can check it out for themselves.
I have just gone for a look and I tell you it is definitely not what I was expecting.
Yes, I watched the Behind The Scenes Videos. Yes, I checked out the still shots. No, that did nothing to prepare me for the video. The dance steps I’d seen, there’s no denying that, but they look completely different in the rehearsal hall than they do on the video.
I had no expectations going into this video, no preconceived notions about what it would look like, and I certainly was not disappointed.
I’ve been everywhere man looking for someone
Where Have You Been All My Life –
With lyrics like this it’s no surprise that there are a variety of looks and a variety of backgrounds. All of which showcase Rihanna and her assets whether they be her toned and taut figure, her stunning voice or her complicated dance moves.
In all of the scenes Rihanna has a goddess feel to her, that’s the vibe I get from the look she’s portraying.
There are some great contrasts with very dark scenes and then the vivid brightness of a more arid desertscape.
This is a video that is well worth the watch and I am definitely not alone in that opinion. I have gone to check it out less than 48 hours after it was posted to YouTube (this is the most accurate description I can give the timeframe) and already the views sit at over 1.75million. There are more than 85,000 likes for the clip but that’s not to say all of the feedback is positive.
As is always the case with any celebrity, anything really, there’s the lovers and the haters.
Check out the clip for yourself and let us know what you think… are you a lover or a hater? I am a LOVER!
I devour books, vampires and supernatural creatures are my genre of choice but over the past couple of years, I have broadened my horizons considerably. In a nutshell – I love to write! I love interacting with a diverse range of artists to bring you interviews. Perhaps we were perfect before – I LOVE WORDS!
