Coming Soon: Dracula Untold

I don’t know about all of you but I love me a vampire. My love affair with the mythical creature goes so far back I can’t even remember where it began. One of the first school projects I remember doing in high school was on vampires and I have always devoured anything vamp related. Basically if I saw a mention it was enough for me to pick it up, which has not always ended well for me – playboy vampire movies that were totally toothless not-so-soft porn and all manner of books with a wide variety of vampire lore.

Thinking about it now I would have to say my first immortal crush was Stoker’s Dracula. Still one of my all-time favourite novels, I also loved the movie starring Keanu Reeves, Winona Ryder and Gary Oldman. I could go on all night about where my undead crushes went from there but it really isn’t necessary; suffice to say I’m a long time vampire fan with a throbbing jugular for Dracula and that’s why I’m here.

There is a new vampire movie heading for the silver screen and it sheds new light on an old favourite – well an old favourite of mine anyway. DRACULA – not the Brat Prince, not the sparkly one, not any number of other vampires who have come since but Dracula, my first immortal love. Most of us know him well as the centuries old recluse who relocated from Transylvania for a new lease on life. Dracula Untold takes us back and introduces us to Vlad Tepes, the ruler who became Dracula.

Focusing on the man behind the vamp and showing us how he came to have and wield his supernatural powers Dracula Untold brings us Vlad Tepes in a way we haven’t seen him before.

I am looking forward to the October 17th release of Dracula Untold starring Luke Evans of Fast & Furious 6, Immortals and Clash of the Titans. Also starring Dominic Cooper, Sarah Gadon and Charles Dance.

Dracula Untold was written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless and directed by Gary Shore in his feature debut.

The trailer shows a man determined to protect his family at all costs in a land torn by war where being a hero is not enough. It’s Dark, it’s epic and Drac’s a hottie. It’s all I want in a movie and I can’t wait to go check it out on the big screen.
