Christmas in Australia is the heart of Summer, think long days by the pool or the beach and a favourite pair of thongs.
I loved to be barefoot when I was younger and trying to get shoes on me in summer was an effort. It didn’t matter what I did or where I went, I generally did it barefoot if I could get away with it; and that wasn’t just as a child either. I loved to be barefoot right up until young adulthood. I have since swapped my barefeet for a favourite pair of thongs, which never seem to last through an entire season because blowouts are sure to happen.
Willi have designed a great new pair of thongs that, though not unbreakable, are certainly less likely to blowout. The boomerang plugs are designed to pull through the base instead of snapping off, which also means you can tailor your thongs to your outfit with interchangeable straps.
I have been wearing a pair of pretty purple Willi thongs for the last couple of weeks and I must say I absolutely love them, they are definitely the new favourites. The first thing I noticed when I unpacked them is that they are quite a bit thicker than the rest of my thongs which will mean longer wearing, yay.
There are so many brands of thongs on the market and a lot of them share the same basic design, Willi Footwear is different. Their patented boomerang plugs will defy blowouts for the most part but if you do happen to have someone step on the back of your shoe and the strap pull out it is simple to thread back through and the larger plug base will keep your straps secure once more.
Along with blowout defiance the design allows for interchangeable straps, which means that there are fantastic colour combinations across different base colours and strap colours. I started with purple on purple and am now rocking purple bases with black straps.
The slim style, designed for women, features combinations with metallic straps and diamante embellishments, and allows for an amazing 126 different combinations. The regular size, for those with normal to wide feet, comes in seven base colours and seven straps colours, allowing for 49 different colour combinations.
The design is unisex but sizing comes in Regular or Slim for width and is based on US Mens sizing. There is a sizing guide on the website to ensure that you get your size right before you order.
