Oodles of hands on fun is in store when Kidtopia, Sydney’s newest Festival for kids and their grownups, comes to Parramatta Park this October school holidays (Friday 07 – Sunday 09 October).
From bubbling, whizzing and electric science experiments, costume and clothing design, origami and dream catcher creating, cooking, dance and drama classes, Kidtopia has announced a program brimming with workshops and activities to keep hands and minds busy over the three day event.
“As with adults, kids have a whole range of different tastes when it comes to experiencing things and we understand the importance of keeping kids engaged. Our goal has been to create a range of different workshops and classes to suit any and all who come to the Festival,” said Cory Watson, Head of Parenting at Fairfax Events.
Kidtopia is not your usual day out with the kids, jam-packed full of delightful entertainment, amusement rides, and delicious eateries, the Festival now offers up a range of dynamic workshops. Leading theatre institution, NIDA, are hosting bite sized drama classes for different age groups to ignite imaginations and encourage creative play as well as daily Hip Hop dance classes hosted by the Global award-winning hip hop crew Z Boyz, kid sensation Hellraisers and the team from LA Talent School.
The Festival’s twice daily science workshops will see pintsized punters getting their hands dirty making gigantic bubbles and creating sticky, gooey slime and yummy sherbet.
For the mini-makers there’s an array of arty classes on offer. Dye, stencil or fringe a t-shirt fit to party at the Festival’s t-shirt making classes. Bedtime arguments will be a thing of the past after kids use fabric, yarn and feathers to create dreamcatchers capable of trapping negative dreams. For those little ones with a keen interest in creating culinary masterpieces, the Festival’s Mission Kids in the Kitchen cooking classes tailor to a range of different ages and operate twice daily.
Kidtopia also plays host to CraftWorks, a free crafty corner of the Festival for kids to go wild and get creative. Here little ones will be able to make beautiful works of paper art using origami techniques or release their inner animal at the daily Spirit Animal Costume Making classes.
Kidtopia is presented by Qantas Assure, the insurance membership with access to a Wellness Program that can reward eligible Qantas Frequent Flyer members every step of the way with Qantas Points.
Tickets for the epic family festival are on sale now with punters are encouraged to book in early and save 50% off the door price by taking advantage of the early bird offer online before Thursday 06 October, 5pm AEST. Early bird tickets range from $10-$15 per person with entry for kids under 5 free.
