Silica is an important inclusion to our diets for beauty and wellbeing. Silica is a naturally occurring, essential trace mineral that assists with calcium absorption, strong and healthy connective tissues and collagen and elastin production. It also helps flush toxins from the body.
Natural sources of silica include: leeks, green beans, strawberries, cucumber, mango, celery, asparagus, rhubarb, apples, raw cabbage, carrots, cucumber, pumpkin, oats, honey, fish, unrefined grains, almonds and oranges.
Leading nutritionist, bestselling author and health educator Cyndi O’Meara has put together the Changing Habits, Changing Lives Cookbook with some fabulous high silica recipes, one of which is Cyndi’s Chia and Goji Berry CADA, perfect for breakfasts.
This recipe serves 2 – 4 and can be saved in the fridge for later.
Ingredients
1/4 cup flaked coconut
15 almonds – crushed
4 fresh dates – chopped
2 small apples – grated
1 Tbs chia seed
2 Tbs goji berry
1 Tbs sunflower seeds
2 Tbs pumpkin seeds
Method
Place all ingredients into a bowl and mix. If you have a thermomix place all unprepared ingredients into the TM bowl, put the dial on, close lid and pulse a few times. I like mine chunky. Serve with yogurt and fresh mango.
This breakfast keeps Cyndi going all morning
